For those of you who came to my talking drum workshops, you will most likely have played one of my drums. They are now for sale, with all kinds of funky designs on the actual drum, or plain wood if you prefer. The beauty of these drums is that when (note...not if, but WHEN!) the drum head breaks, they can be replaced easily. The West African tamas have a complicated stitch technique which weakens the skin by nature of stitching through the head itself..these drums have a patent pending clamp design which makes for a much longer lasting head..but when it does go, I have re-done the head, and have actually been playing the drum again within 3 hrs.
